DTS announced that they have released an open object based archiving/mezzanine format MDA. (Multi Dimensional Audio). In this video I talk with DTS senior director John Kellogg about how this technology works and how it will impact on the cinema exhibition industry.
This is becoming a very important topic as digital cinema installations are mostly complete around the world, exhibitors are looking towards the next point of difference. With the picture done, audio seems the next logical step. However, a major hurdel of distribution formats still exists. Hopefully MDA will answer some of these issues and allow this technology to move forward.
I recommend you watch this video is you are at all interested in the future of sound in cinema exhibition.
