USL surprises us again with their new Media Block (SMS) and its ability to play back MDA audio (The Open Standards proposed Immersive audio format offered from DTS based on their MDA Immersive Audio technology). This is an implementation based on what is expected to be approved by the SMPTE Immersive Audio working group. This is a good sign that the technology is very complete and that SMPTE should not take long to get to complete its certification process for the standard. Expect an open Immersive Audio to be a big thing in the near future.
